MPM SORBET

Retro Packaging Design + Branding

Brief

Montreal’s network of Public Markets has been bringing Montrealers closer to local produce and retail since 1993. The non profit organization includes the Atwater, Jean-Talon and Maissonneuve markets, six neighbourhood markets and three solidarity markets.

The goal was to create a hypothetical line of MPM-branded products to create a new appeal to the markets and innovate on their existing line of produce. I chose to create a line of sorbet with a vintage packaging and tasty flavours.

Process

The first step was to pick which flavours my sorbet would offer. I opted for a line of berries mixed with chamomile flower, as I felt it would fit the markets identity were they to have their own line of iced sweets. I also chose sorbet over ice-cream, to create a vegan dessert and appeal to the markets target audience.

With the goal of defying the standards for sorbet packaging, I began to research how they have changed over time. This led to me choosing the vintage form of boxed sorbet with a plan to create a union between a nostalgic format with innovative flavours and modern design.
